The Ripple Effect: Stories of Volunteers & Community Impact

At RiseUP Community Foundation, we often say that the heart of our work isn’t the projects themselves — it’s the people behind them. Every pot of soup stirred, every circle of women gathered, every story shared, creates ripples of generosity and connection that reach far beyond the event.

This fall, we’ve been reflecting on how much impact can come from small acts of community care:

  • At The Big Stir, 50+ volunteers will be rolling-up their sleeves to chop, stir, and simmer pots of nourishing chili. Their efforts will fill the freezer at the Nipawin Food Bank and warm countless homes, proving that when we cook together, we care together.

  • Exploring CQ: Cultural Intelligence will show us that volunteers aren’t just helpers; they’re bridges. By hosting music and stories, they invite understanding across cultures, making our community more inclusive, one conversation at a time.

  • Through Women Building Connection, local women come forward not just to learn, but to mentor, encourage, and lift each other up. The ripple effect here is in the conversations that spark courage, the networks that grow, and the friendships that continue long after the gathering ends.

  • Our Board of Directors guide every step of this journey, stewarding RiseUP through the transition to charitable status and ensuring our projects are rooted in sustainability, accountability, and community care. Along the way, they are learning, building connections, and experiencing what it means to be part of something bigger than ourselves. Their leadership helps keep the ripple effect moving outward.

These moments remind us that community impact isn’t always measured in numbers. It’s in the smile of a Food Bank client receiving homemade soup, the confidence of a young woman stepping into leadership, and the shared laughter at a cultural event.

We are deeply grateful to every volunteer, sponsor, and community partner who joins us. So many individuals come together to make these events possible — and there’s always room for more hearts and hands.
